You-Pick Flowers & Lavender

Step into the beauty of the season and gather flowers at your own pace.  At Little Brown Farm, our you-pick experience invites you to wonder through rows of lavender and seasonal blooms, breath in the fragrance of summer, and take home flowers grown right here on our farm.  Every week in the field looks a little different as the season unfolds, offering new colours, textures, and flowers to discover.

What can you pick?

Our you pick changes as summer unfolds. Early in season, visitors can enjoy fragrant lavender fields and harvest lavender bundles.  As seasons continues, flower rows begin to fill with colour, offering a wide variety of seasonal blooms.

Bloom timing depends on weather and the natural rhythm of the season, so each week can look a little different.  Check our Instagram stories and posts for regular updates throughout the season.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit depends on what you hope to experience.  Lavender can begin blooming as early as mid June, with peak bloom continuing through July.  Other flower picking continues through summer into early fall.

Morning is often the best time for picking, especially on warm days, when flowers are fresh and well hydrated before the midday heat.  Early visits also a quieter pace and softer light across the farm.

For most current look at what is blooming, follow along on Instagram where we share regular updates in stories and posts.

How the U-pick experience works

Visitors are welcome during our regular open farm farm hours.  Please begin by checking in at the shop when you arrive.

The you-pick experience is $25 per person for either lavender or flower picking.  Visitors who would like to enjoy both experiences are welcome to do so for $40 per person.

We provide snips for picking, along with a clear example of how much may be harvested.  For lavender, a bundle example will be shown before entering the field.  For flowers, a large jar will be provided and used as the picking guide.

Guests accompanying a picker who are not harvesting are welcome to enjoy the farm for a general admission fee of $10.

What to bring/expect

Because this is a working farm, conditions can change with weather and the season.  Paths may be uneven, muddy at times, especially after the rain, so comfortable footwear is recommended.

The picking areas are in open sunny spaces with limited shade, so on warm days a hat, water, sunglasses and sunscreen can make your visit more comfortable.

Bees and other pollinators are an important part of the farm and are often active in the flowers and lavender.  â€‹â€‹

Picking guidelines

To help protect the flowers and keep the fields beautiful for everyone, we ask visitors to pick only from the areas currently open for harvesting and follow the guidance provided at check-in.

Please use the snips provided and harvest gently, taking care around the plants and pathways.  We ask visitors to stay within pathways.  Children are welcome but should remain supervised while in the fields so the growing  areas remain protected throughout the season.

If you are unsure how to cut, don't worry-we are always nearby and happy to help.
