FAQ'S

When does the farm open to the public? The farm typically opens to the public in early June, depending on seasonal conditions and how the growing season develops. Because we work closely with nature, opening dates may vary slightly each year, so please watch our website and social media for updates. Once lavender is in full bloom, the farm is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Our farm shop remains open on select weekends through most of the year.

Where are you located? Little Brown Farm is located in the small village of Arva, just 7 minutes north of London. Our address is 22007 Wonderland Road North, Arva, Ontario, and free parking is available on site.

When is the best time to see lavender in bloom? Our lavender typically begins blooming in mid-June and continues through the end of July, although timing can shift slightly depending on the season and weather. We grow 14 different varieties of lavender, which helps extend the bloom period, as some varieties flower later than others, so there is always something in bloom throughout the season.  For frequent updates on lavender and flower bloom, please check our Instagram page.

Are there flowers in bloom after lavender season? Yes — while lavender is the highlight of early summer, many other flowers continue blooming well beyond lavender season. Zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, dahlias, and many other flower varieties bloom throughout late summer and into September, bringing changing colour and beauty across the farm. Because different flowers bloom at different times, every visit offers something unique.  For the most up-to-date bloom updates throughout the season, please check our Instagram page.

Do you charge admission? Yes — admission to the farm is $10 per person, while children 14 and under visit free. Admission applies to visiting the flower fields, lavender labyrinth, and farm grounds. Guests who are only visiting the shop are welcome to enter the shop without admission.

Do you offer pick-your-own lavender? Yes — we offer pick-your-own lavender during lavender season. The cost is $25 per person, which includes farm admission. Please note that admission is required even if you are visiting but not picking. For seasonal availability and details, please check our lavender page.

Do you offer pick-your-own cut flowers? Yes — we also offer pick-your-own cut flowers during the flower season. The cost is $25 per person, which includes farm admission. For seasonal details, flower availability, and booking information, please visit our pick-your-own flowers page.

Is there a washroom on site? Yes, we do have a washroom available on site for visitors.

How accessible is the farm? As a working farm, much of the property includes uneven ground, gravel, grass, and natural pathways, which can be challenging for mobility devices, especially after rain when conditions may be muddy. In dry weather, many visitors using wheelchairs or mobility aids have been able to enjoy parts of the farm, particularly with assistance. Accessibility can vary depending on seasonal ground conditions.

What should I expect when visiting a working farm? Little Brown Farm is a working farm, so depending on the day, you may see regular farm activities taking place such as mowing, harvesting, pruning, or other seasonal work. We do our best to maintain a beautiful visitor experience while continuing the daily work that keeps the farm growing. As a working farm, visitors should expect natural farm conditions throughout the season, including uneven ground, please wear appropriate footwear.

Are there bees and insects on the farm? Yes — bees are naturally very active on the farm, especially around lavender and flowers, as they are important pollinators and love the blooms. Mosquitoes may also be present, particularly after rain.  Visitors with allergies should come prepared and take appropriate precautions.

Can I bring my dog to the farm? Yes, dogs are welcome, provided they remain on leash at all times and owners clean up after them during their visit.

Can I buy food or drinks on the farm? At this time, we do not regularly offer food or drinks for sale on the farm. It is something we hope to add in the future as we continue to grow. For now, visitors are welcome to bring their own water, snacks, or picnic lunch to enjoy during their visit, and picnic tables and seating areas are available throughout the farm.

Can I take photos during my visit? Yes — casual photos for personal use taken with your phone are always welcome during your visit. Photography involving props, tripods, lighting, professional cameras, or any session intended for business, portfolio, branding, or client use is considered professional photography and must be booked separately outside regular visiting hours.  More information is available on our professional photography page.

Drone use requires prior written permission, advance booking, and must take place outside regular hours as part of a professional photography session.
